Premier League champions City produced a dazzling display in front of 10,000 fans at the Etihad Stadium as a double from Sergio Aguero and goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus and Phil Foden secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Everton.

The afternoon began with a fitting tribute to City and Aguero, with everyone inside the stadium providing a guard of honour and standing ovation for the champions and for City’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Pep Guardiola‘s side went on to make the start of champions, taking the lead after 11 minutes through a superb curling strike from De Bruyne after superb work from Riyad Mahrez.

Three minutes later, City were celebrating again as Jesus cut inside Ben Godfrey after De Bruyne‘s pass and calmly slotted beyond Jordan Pickford.

The visitors were then provided with a route back into the game as referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot after Richarlison was fouled by Ruben Dias.

Premier League golden glove winner Ederson sprawled to his right and expertly palmed away Sigurdsson’s spot-kick to preserve the two goal advantage just before the interval.

City emerged from halftime with the same attacking intensity and added a third eight minutes into the second half through Foden, who confidently slotted the ball into the far corner with his weaker right foot to notch his 16th goal of the season.

With just under 30 minutes left to play, every City fan had their wish fulfilled as Sergio Aguero stepped onto the Etihad pitch for the final time, replacing Mahrez.

The Argentine then signed off in the perfect fashion, finishing superbly with the outside of his right foot just six minutes after being introduced. 

The City marksman wasn’t done yet, and minutes later, headed in his 260th goal for the club, becoming the Premier League’s leading scorer for a single club, overtaking Wayne Rooney.
