The visitors hit back within ten minutes, equalising through Diogo Jota, who slotted in from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pass.

City came roaring back in this thrilling encounter and restored our lead nine minutes before the interval as Gabriel Jesus latched onto Joao Cancelo’s superb cross to divert beyond Alisson via the crossbar, his fifth goal against the Reds in his last five home games against them in all competitions.

Jurgen Klopp’s side emerged from the interval with a spring in their step and levelled again within 60 seconds of the restart as Mohamed Salah’s pass sent Sadio Mane through and he coolly finished beyond Ederson.

Just after the hour mark, Raheem Sterling raced through and calmly found the net, only for the goal to be disallowed for offside following a VAR review.

Jesus came close to netting his second of the game but his effort from a tight angle could only find the side-netting, whilst Riyad Mahrez struck the post with a finely struck free-kick in the 90th minute.

The draw keeps City at the top of the league table, one point ahead of the Merseyside club with seven matches remaining.
