Pep Guardiola’s men started on the front foot and the game was full of intensity despite coming off the back of an international break.
It was the main man Erling Haaland who starred on the main stage once again as he bagged the opener.
Alisson’s kick to free Mohamed Salah was taken down by Nathan Ake. He fed Haaland who squeezed it under the goalkeeper to score his 50th Premier League goal and give City a well earned advantage.
It certainly was not the full throttle encounter we’ve seen between these two sides on so many occasions, but City were the much better side and the only frustration at half time was that it was only one.
An even second half was taken advantage of by Liverpool, as Trent Alexander-Arnold managed to squeeze a shot into Ederson’s far corner to bring the Merseyside outfit level and earn them a point.
