Mateo Kovacic scored a spectacular goal to help City claim a comfortable 5-1 Premier League victory over Luton Town and move to the top of the Premier League table.

Pep Guardiola‘s men made the perfect start, taking the lead via an own goal after just two minutes, with Erling Haaland‘s effort deflecting off the face of Daiki Hashioka and into the net.

Shortly before the half-hour mark, we almost doubled the lead but Matheus Nunes‘ powerful effort across goal kissed the base of the post.

Kevin De Bruyne then stung the palms of Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski shortly before the interval, with City having 16 first-half shots, whilst the visitors failed to register a single shot in the opening period.

The barrage continued and shortly after the hour mark we doubled the lead, with Kovacic crashing the ball into the roof of the net on the half-volley from a Julian Alvarez cross.

We extended the lead further with 15 minutes left to play thorugh Haaland’s composed penalty after Jeremy Doku was brought down inside the box.

Ross Barkley pulled a goal back for the Hatters with ten minutes left to play, but we struck back with wonderful goals from Doku and Josko Gvardiol to claim a well-deserved 5-1 victory.

The three points take us to the top of the Premier League table overnight, with fellow title challengers Liverpool and Arsenal in action tomorrow.
