Bernardo Silva scored two deflected goals as Manchester City inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Newcastle United at the Etihad to reach the FA Cup Semi-finals for a sixth consecutive season.

There was an expected boisterous atmosphere at the Etihad for this FA Cup Quarter-final encounter, and Pep Guardiola’s men took that to our advantage, as we snatched an early lead inside 13 minutes.

Bernardo Silva dinked a shot that clipped Newcastle’s Dan Burn and looped over the head of Martin Dubravka to give City a deserved breakthrough.

And 15 minutes later, the Portuguese secured his brace with another deflected effort, to Newcastle’s despair.

This time the defection came off Sven Botman’s head, which gave the Magpie’s keeper, Dubravka, no chance, as he watched the ball pass him by into the net as City doubled their lead.

Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku and Ruben Dias could’ve all extended our lead further before the interval, but it wasn’t meant to be.

City controlled the game in the second half to confirm the win.

Another visit to Wembley is on the horizon, as victory takes us through to the FA Cup Semi-finals. It’s the first time in the competition’s history that a club has made it this far in six consecutive seasons.
