Ilkay Gundogan's first-half strike and Fernandinho's late finish inspired City to a 2-1 Premier League victory over West Ham United at a snow-laden Etihad Stadium.

Winter well and truly arrived in Manchester as the snow fell heavily, but the weather didn’t dampen the City players’ hunger to entertain as Pep Guardiola‘s men made a fast start and had the ball in the net, but Riyad Mahrez was flagged for offside.

The Algerian remained on the front foot and eventually set up the opener, wonderfully delivering into the box for Gundogan to tap in just after the half-hour mark.

The heavy snowfall continued but City remained calm and composed on the ball, dominating possession.

The best chance of the second half fell to Gabriel Jesus, but his goal bound effort was saved by Lukasz Fabianski before trickling towards goal, where Aaron Cresswell cleared off the line.

Gundogan could have had a brace with ten minutes remaining, but Fabianski was equal to the midfielder’s effort.

Fernandinho stroked in a late second goal, just minutes after coming onto the pitch.

In the fourth and last minute of stoppage time, Manuel Lanzini scored a stunning consolation goal for the visitors.
