De Bruyne has unlocked the tightest, most organised of defences with a single pass – a pass which more often than not finds its target with the perfect weight, angle and pace.

Already a legend of the game, the 28-year-old’s best qualities have been on show for all to see in sky blue – most notably perhaps when Stoke visited the Etihad Stadium in October 2017.

In the latest instalment of #City30, presented by Nexen, we asked you - the fans – to name the best individual performance of the Pep Guardiola, Nick Cushing and Alan Mahon eras.

De Bruyne’s scintillating smashing of the Potters earned the glory – and rightly so!

Even by his standards, the midfielder’s display that day was out of this world.

The playmaker had a hand in five of City’s seven goals – three key passes and two glorious assists, which simply could not have been better crafted.

For both Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane’s second half strikes, De Bruyne claimed possession just inside the Stoke half before driving forward and executing inch-perfect deliveries right into the path of his teammates to convert.

De Bruyne absolutely ran the show with his remarkable range of passing (boasting an accuracy of 91%), leaving the footballing world in awe. He deservedly received a standing ovation from both sets of fans when substituted in place of Yaya Toure.

The Belgian at his very best… so far!

Saturday’s #City30 topic: the best goalkeeping display.

Who starred in goal to preserve that crucial clean sheet? Who made save after splendid save? Who clawed away that one pivotal stop which seemed destined for the top corner? Who was the impenetrable brick wall, standing tall under relentless pressure?
