Celebrating our Etihad Cityzens of the Month!

The Etihad Airways Cityzens of the Month for April can now be revealed!

As a Club, we have been humbled to hear of the courage and bravery many of our supporters have shown during the current global pandemic and the Etihad Airways Cityzens of the Month is a way of spotlighting and collating some of the stories we have been hearing.

From NHS heroes and supermarket workers, to refuse collectors and teachers, we’ve heard from so many amazing people who are helping us through this crisis through their hard work and unselfish dedication to keeping us safe and well.

And from everyone at Manchester City Football Club we say a sincere thank you to every single one of you.

JAMES WRIGHT : "My son James is an "NHS Hero." He is a Respiratory Physiotherapist working on the ICU Ward at Salford so he is on the front line, helping the patients and saving lives on a daily basis. His job is very demanding: both physically and mentally. He is the tall one in the middle."

CLAIRE COPE : "I nominate Claire Cope - a member of Dukinfield branch of the Official Supporters Club. During this time, she has been working extremely hard to keep people in the local areas supplied with bread, working quite late each day to ensure all orders are perfect. She has been a City fan for all her life and enjoys coming to matches. The bakery has been donating to local hospitals and charities. If nothing else, she deserves a pat on the back."

DANIEL CONWAY : "I’d like to nominate my brother, Danny Conway - a lifelong Blue. He’s leading the front line against some of the most complex cases of Covid-19 at Manchester Royal Infirmary). He’s helping to develop new ways to treat the disease. When he’s not treating ICU patients, he’s either lecturing or doing mad cycle rides for charity. A real hero."

ANCHLAESH TEKAM : "My nomination is for Anchlaesh Tekam. He is the founder of the City OSC in Nagpur, India and is a doctor by profession. He is fighting Covid-19 from the front. Apart from this, he is doing many activities for the local community. He has conducted menstrual hygiene session for female football players from impoverished backgrounds and injury awareness sessions for budding football players. He is the hero we deserve."

JAKE KNOX : "I nominate my nephew Jake. He is 15 and a lifelong Blue. He is at the Etihad with his grandad. Jake has had a very difficult few months. His exams were cancelled, he hasn't been able to finish his last year or say goodbye to his schoolmates and teachers and he is anxious for everyone's health. He is an amazing brother and helps his mum care for all his siblings. Jake has also recently been told his Nana has cancer. He has been incredibly mature and come up with ideas how he can make her smile."

DECLAN FLINT : "My son Declan, 18, has been my carer since he was nine years old. He cooks, cleans, goes shopping and has helped wash me. He’s never complained and when I became well enough to go to the matches, despite his autism and how he hates crowds, he accompanied me to all the home matches. He does things a child shouldn’t do for a parent but never moans. He’s my Blue star."

QUINN HOLMES : "This little fellow is nearly eight years old and a big City fan. He been helping to get people's shopping and take it to them and he also helps his dad cook some meals, help with housework and help with general day-to-day stuff. He is missing his nanna and grandad but goes and gets them what they need. He has even bought a writing pad and envelopes so he can write and draw people a big smiley face to help keep them smiling through this tough time."

LEE MULLARKEY : "I think my dad deserves recognition because he has been a lifelong supporter of Man City (as well as me) and he is the kindest person you'll ever meet. He works his life around all of the City matches so we can get the best out of our seasoncards and attend as many matches as we can. In this time of the Coronavirus pandemic, he is also classed as a key worker, working on the food and drink production line. It would really be amazing if he could be picked."

HELEN DRURY : "My daughter Helen Drury is a mother and teacher. Although she is still working, minding children, she has also found time to fundraise to supply Manchester Children's Hospital with Tropical hand cream. She is also a massive City fan, missing our trips to watch City."

EVE FLOCKTON : "I nominate my wife Eve Flockton. She is a Paramedic but her current role is Resuscitation Lead at Bradford Hospital. She is on the wards every day, delivering essential training to the 100s of staff on the front line. She has to keep up-to-date as well as ensuring the whole hospital is aware. I don’t think the public realise the work and training that goes on behind-the-scenes to ensure front line staff are set to face this awful pandemic. I hope she is recognised."

Newly married with a beautiful baby boy, he still finds time to watch our team. He is a happy person, especially at work, trolley-collecting at Morrison's and brightening everyone’s day. He truly is a great human being - fun, loving and caring. If anyone deserves to be recognised, it would be him - also for the charity work he does too."

DAVID SHERER : "My dad, David Sherer, is my hero. In the past few years, he has helped his wife and my stepmum beat cancer and survived a heart attack. Also, as a key worker, he is still working hard during the current Covid-19 pandemic. He is the most kind-hearted, friendly guy you could ever wish to meet. He is a lifelong City fan and I am so grateful that I call him dad."

JULIE CADWALLADER : "I would like to nominate my sister Julie Cadwallader. She is a Seasonticket holder and works at Eastlands ASDA on the tills. She is also looks after her grandaughter Madison on her days off. I think she deserves recognition as do all the supermarket workers."
