The City skipper’s 436th game in sky blue means he becomes the first player to enter the Club’s top 10 appearance list in 34 years.
Silva is level with Willie Donachie, who also clocked up 436 appearances from 1970 to 1979.
Paul Power was the last City player to move into the Top 10 list, displacing Donachie during his final campaign at Maine Road in 1985/86.
Power played for City 445 times in all recognised first team competitions and is currently placed in ninth.
In an era when few players stay at one club for any great length of time, it’s another huge achievement for the Spaniard who will move ahead of Donachie should City progress in the Champions League and plays more minutes.
Silva also holds the record for most European appearances for City, with his game against Lyon taking him to 70 – eight ahead of second placed Joe Hart and nine ahead of Sergio Aguero, who will look to better that record over the course of 2020/21.
David is also in the Top 10 FA Cup appearances list, sharing eight spot with Club royalty in Mike Summerbee and Colin Bell with 34.
Club Ambassador Summerbee, himself eighth in the all time list have made 452 appearances for City, said: “What David has achieved at the football club is nothing short of incredible.
“Coming from Valencia, it wasn’t easy to adapt to the demands of the Premier League because of the intensity, speed and there are very few breaks – the seasons can be long and hard.
“But he did it and I can honestly say I have never seen a player like him. He is such a wonderful footballer who has looked after himself and stayed fit and he is the best I’ve ever seen in the position he plays.
“He’s not a Colin Bell type of player – Kevin De Bruyne is more like Colin – but we are talking about a creative talent who can make something out of nothing, keep the ball and find pockets of space that few others can.
“In all the years he’s been with us, you very rarely saw him get caught in possession and he had just been a pleasure to watch over this past 10 years.

“I’ve been lucky enough to be around the team and travel abroad with them – as I am now here in Portugal - and I can honestly say David is one of the nicest guys I’ve met in football – there is no edge to him, he is humble and he has the respect of everyone.
“He’ll be sadly missed when he goes, but the terrible thing about footballers is we grow old and I think David is doing the right thing ending at the very top of his game.
“He’s a wonderful person and one of the best players I’ve ever seen.”
Broken down, David has made 309 Premier League appearances, scoring 60 goals. He has played 34 FA Cup matches, scoring five times, made 19 League Cup appearances with one goal and four starts in the Community Shield.
His 70 Champions League matches (to date) and 11 goals mean he is now of 436 games for Manchester City and he has bagged 77 goals.
