Phil Foden has been voted Etihad Player of the Month for December.

The England international was at the centre of a memorable month for City, as Pep Guardiola’s men continued our push for the Premier League title and claimed the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time.

Fending off the sizeable challenges of Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva in our fan vote, our number 47 featured in all nine matches across December, scoring in wins over Fluminense and Everton and in our 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Foden was a standout performer in Jeddah, sliding home City’s third from close-range as we beat our Brazilian opponents 4-0 in the Club World Cup showpiece.

His strike against Everton, which drew us level at Goodison Park, was more spectacular, rifling a vicious low drive from distance in at the near post through a crowd of bodies.

He could even have had a second in a match-winning display on Merseyside in stoppage time, but saw another stinging drive from distance cannon back off the post.

But Foden also turned provider for his team-mates in December, first by teeing up Jack Grealish in our 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

He then capped off a month to remember by setting up both of City’s goals in our 2-0 triumph over Sheffield United in our final match of 2023.

Congratulations to Phil on winning December’s Etihad Player of the Month, and thank you to everyone who voted!
