Ederson’s stunning one-on-one save to deny Mohamed Salah is up for Castrol’s Premier League Save of the Month for October.

Roberto Firmino’s through ball was picked up by the Egyptian who raced through and looked certain to open the scoring early in the second half at Anfield.

However, some brave goalkeeping from the Brazilian saw him somehow get the slightest of fingertips on his effort to ensure the score remained level.

Despite his heroics, Ederson would eventually be beaten by Salah later on in the game, with his goal proving to be the difference in an otherwise even contest on Merseyside.

The City No.31 kept four clean sheets in all competitions during October, making another unbelievable stop from a Youri Tielemans volley against Leicester to preserve a 1-0 win in the final match of the month.

He faces competition for the Save of the Month award from fellow Premier League goalkeepers, with Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea), Bernd Leno (Fulham), David De Gea (Manchester United), Dean Henderson (Nottingham Forest) and Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur) all up for the prize.

The news comes after Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland were nominated for the Player of the Month award, Pep Guardiola was included in the shortlist for the Manager of the Month and both De Bruyne’s strikes against Brighton and Leicester City were put in contention for the Goal of the Month award.
