The Brazilian is on course to win the Premier League Golden Gloves award for the second consecutive year.
He won the prize for the first time last season after keeping 16 clean sheets, and he already has 18 this term with four matches to spare - two ahead of his nearest rival Edouard Mendy of Chelsea.
But it’s perhaps his ability on the ball that makes his such a special proposition.
There are few players anywhere in the world who can match his precision passing ability, an asset that adds a dangerous quality to our attacking repertoire.
His long-range pass that sent Oleksandr Zinchenko racing free in the buildup to our opener against PSG on Tuesday was the latest example of his brilliance, and Guardiola says he is an ideal fit for this team.
“We cannot have a better goalkeeper than Eddie,” Guardiola said.
“He suits perfectly our way [of playing]. The impact he has on the team is massive.
“His composure and the way he faces the good moments and bad moments is remarkable.
“He has incredible work ethic. He has the best goalkeeper trainer in the world in Xabier Mancisidor. He is the best one.
“He and Richard [Wright] have done an incredible job - not just with Eddie, but with Zack [Steffen], Scott [Carson] and the young guys we have.
“We are lucky.”
City face Chelsea on Saturday knowing three points would seal the Premier League title with three matches to spare.
It would be a wonderful way to complete the job and secure our third league success in four seasons.
It would also give Guardiola, his backroom staff and his players three complete weeks to focus on the Champions League final and get prepared for perhaps the biggest game in our history.
Guardiola says he wants to get the job done as quickly as possible - but insists his players will not be rested before Europe’s showpiece event in Istanbul at the end of the month, given the domestic schedule is about to become more manageable.
“The players will not be rested to think about the final of the Champions League,” he said.
“Sometimes if you win the last two fixtures of the Premier League, you are more involved. But now we have a period of six days between Chelsea and Newcastle and then four five days before Brighton - so the schedule is now a little bit more fresh.
“It’s in our hands, we don’t depend on other results, to win the Premier League as quick as possible.
“It won’t be easy because of the opponent we have tomorrow. But it would be good to celebrate and enjoy it to have time to say ‘guys we have done something good’.
“And after every player will be focused. I don’t need to say focus on the Champions League final because nobody in this club has been there before, other than Ilkay [Gundogan in 2013] maybe.
“That’s why everyone will be so focused to arrive in this final in the best condition possible.”
