Ederson has described Pep Guardiola as football’s best ever coach, comparing working under him to following a GPS.

A win against Tottenham Hotspur in Tuesday’s 20:00 (UK) kick-off would move City within touching distance of a record-breaking Premier League crown with one match to play.

Should we pip Arsenal to the post and retain the title, we would become the first-ever side to win four successive English top flight crowns.

And if City are to create history this week, then Ederson believes the boss will have been the linchpin behind that remarkable success.

“Pep is the same as a GPS,” the goalkeeper explained.

“You put in the address, and it gives you the alternatives and the best one for us. Then you just follow, follow and follow.

“Pep is the best ever and I think he is living football 24 hours a day, it is amazing.

“Now is no different and he is pushing the team because it is a big opportunity for everybody in this club to make history.”

Since Guardiola took charge of City in 2016, we have claimed five of the last seven Premier League crowns, with the Club also famously winning the Treble last season.

It’s an incredible recent history, and one that Ederson believes is down to the team’s unique mentality to consistently push each other on to new heights.

The Brazilian stopper feels our response to setbacks, such as our penalty shootout defeat to Real Madrid, demonstrates this mindset.

He said: “If you look at the last three years, we have won it three times and now we have another chance and time to make history in this country.

“A team in this country has never won four Premier League titles consecutively and now we have the possibility. I put it down to the mentality that has been created by the club, the staff and the players.

“You see when we lost against [Real] Madrid, the team was down. It’s no good because in two days we had a semi-final in the FA Cup.

“The team played and they were so tired, they sacrificed a lot. At this point I mark the mentality that has been created in this group.

“We have another opportunity to win the league and the team has confidence and experience, so let’s try.”
