Enzo Maresca has left his role as first team coach to join Leicester City as manager.

The Italian initially joined the Club in the summer of 2020 as Head Coach of our Elite Development Squad, having previously worked as assistant manager at West Ham United to former City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

He would enjoy immediate success at the Academy Stadium, guiding City to a first-ever Premier League 2 title at the end of his first season.

Departing in May 2021 to take up the vacant managerial role at Parma, Enzo returned to the City Football Academy the following summer as part of Pep Guardiola’s backroom team.

In doing so, he made a significant contribution as part of our first team coaching set-up in what has been an outstanding 2022/23 campaign, in which we’ve been named Champions of Europe for the first time and completed the Treble.

Director of Football Txiki Begiristain said of Maresca’s departure: “Enzo has played an important role in what has been a remarkable season for Manchester City.

“Having already previously enjoyed success with our Elite Development Squad, he brought those same qualities to our first team set-up and his efforts have been appreciated by Pep, his backroom team and the Club as a whole.

“This move to Leicester City is a significant chapter in his coaching development, and one that I am sure he will excel in.”

Everyone at Manchester City would like to thank Enzo for his efforts and wish him the very best of luck in the future.
