Erling Haaland’s sensational first goal for City in Wednesday’s 5-0 win over Sparta Prague has been nominated for the UEFA Champions League Goal of the Day prize.

The Norwegian conjured up a stunning backheeled volley at the Etihad in the latest demonstration of his athleticism, skill and incredible prowess in front of goal.

It was the first of two goals for Haaland on the night with the victory moving City up into third place in the Champions League table.

Phil Foden, John Stones and Matheus Nunes were also on the scoresheet to round off another excellent night’s work from Pep Guardiola’s side.

Haaland has been nominated alongside Raphinha of Barcelona who struck as part of a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Bayern Munich in Spain.
