Esme Morgan says she ‘loved’ Erling Haaland’s second goal in City’s strong 3-0 Champions League win over Young Boys.

The comfortable success at the Etihad Stadium booked Pep Guardiola’s side’s place in the knockout stage with two matches to play and represented our 100th in Europe.

We broke the deadlock through the Norwegian ace’s penalty on 33 minutes, before Phil Foden’s magical effort on the cusp of half-time doubled our advantage.

But perhaps the pick of the bunch came shortly after the interval when Haaland drove alongside the edge of the box and spectacularly fired into the top corner.

And City defender Morgan believes such stunning goals come naturally to the prolific frontman.

Speaking on Matchday Live she declared: “It was [a] comfortable win and I loved Haaland’s goal!

“I think he made it look so much easier than it actually was [because] he was dribbling parallel to the edge of the box going away from goal and he manages to generate so much power to take it into the far top corner.

“A lovely goal and it was a really comfortable second half with players getting lots of minutes [like] Oscar Bobb getting another chance. That was good to see, too.”

Morgan could be on our screens again today when City travel to Liverpool in the Continental Cup.

Kick-off at Prenton Park is scheduled for 19:00 (UK), with the fixture available to watch live on CITY+.

Gareth Taylor’s side began our campaign in the competition with a 2-1 win at Everton in October and will be looking to bounce back from a narrow 2-1 defeat to Arsenal last time out.

And our Academy graduate is relishing the task of Matt Beard’s side.

Morgan added: “We’re looking forward to it.

“Against Liverpool it’s always quite a tough game. They play really man to man out of possession so it’s different to what you face playing against a lot of other teams.

“It will be a really good challenge. They beat us in the league towards the end of last season.

“It’s really important in the Conti Cup to win every game because only the top team from each group goes through.

“We’re in a really tough group with lots of other WSL teams so it’s a really important game.”
