City have started the campaign in style and are the only side left with a 100% record in the Premier League.
That’s been achieved thanks to victories over Burnley, Newcastle United and Sheffield United, while we also overcame Sevilla on penalties to claim the UEFA Super Cup for the first time in our history.
There can only be three nominees, though with Rodrigo, Phil Foden and Mateo Kovacic each making our shortlist.
Rodrigo
The City Champions League final hero has stepped up once again in the early period of the season.
The Spaniard has been ever-present for Pep Guardiola‘s men so far in 2023/24, already providing two goals and two assists in five outings.
Rodrigo cut the ball back to Erling Haaland for our first Premier League goal of the season at Turf Moor, before rounding off the scoring late on.
He then turned provider once again for Cole Palmer in the Super Cup final, before earning all three points for City in a difficult assignment at Sheffield United, smashing home an unstoppable volley as stoppage time approached.
Goals and assists aside, the midfielder continues to make the team tick, once again showing remarkable discipline, quality and consistency both in and out of possession in the opening weeks.

Phil Foden
Foden recently admitted that 2022/23 was a difficult campaign in spells on a personal note, but he’s enjoyed an incredible start to the new season.
In particular, his outstanding performance against Newcastle went a long way to ensuring we edged out a potential title rival at the Etihad Stadium.
Dynamic dribbling, exquisite close control and remarkable vision to boot, it was one of the midfielder’s finest displays in a City shirt, as he fed Julian Alvarez for the game’s only goal.
He would come on as a late substitute against Sheffield United the following week with Pep Guardiola‘s men in need of inspiration to reclaim our lead against the Blades.
And it had the desired effect, with the England international once again heavily involved in Rodrigo‘s decisive strike in South Yorkshire.

Mateo Kovacic
City’s first signing of the summer has seamlessly slotted into our midfield.
Another ever-present figure for Pep Guardiola‘s men so far this season, the Croatian’s intelligence and versatility has provided the perfect foil for his team-mates to flourish.
Whether it be a characteristic burst forward, a pinpoint pass or a perfectly timed challenge, Kovacic has barely put a foot wrong so far for City this season.
Our assistant coach Juanma Lillo even admitted how impressed he’s been by our number eight’s adaptation to his new surroundings ahead of our Premier League clash with Sheffield United.
