Midfield lynchpin Rodrigo has been voted Etihad Player of the Month for August.

There were 14,207 votes cast – with Rodrigo earning 51% of them (7,218) to come out on top.

Phil Foden picked up 37% (5,294) while Mateo Kovacic had 12% (1,695) of the final total.

All three have excelled across a month when we won the UEFA Super Cup and emerged victorious in all three of our Premier League games.

Rodrigo played every minute of every match, driving the team forward from his central position with courage, conviction and class.

He led by example against Burnley, excelling in the 3-0 victory and also scoring the final goal after Erling Haaland had bagged the first two in the convincing win.

The 27-year-old set up Cole Palmer perfectly for the vital equalising goal against Sevilla in the 1-1 Super Cup final draw in Athens, the team going on to win the penalty shootout 5-4 to lift the trophy for the very first time.

He then excelled in the middle ground during our hard-fought 1-0 home victory over fellow Champions League team, Newcastle United before his highlight of the month against Sheffield United.

Erling Haaland had put City into a deserved 1-0 lead on 63 minutes at Bramall Lane but the plucky Blades found a leveller on 85 minutes through Jayden Bogle.

With the clock ticking down to full-time, it was that man Rodrigo who saved the day, blasting home an unstoppable drive with his left foot to send the away fans into delirium.

Congratulations from everyone at Manchester City to Rodrigo on his award.
