Which City stars should you consider for your FPL team ahead of our trip to Arsenal?

City’s first game of 2022 sees us travel to the Emirates Stadium for a 12:30pm (UK) kick-off on Saturday 1 January.

Pep Guardiola‘s men are aiming to start the new year on a high with an 11th Premier League victory in succession, but know we’ll need to be at our best to make that ambition a reality against the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s resurgent Arsenal side currently sit fourth in the Premier League table and have won each of their last six home matches.

As always though, the Scout is on hand to ease the burden of those difficult selection dilemmas by choosing one City player, one opponent and another Premier League star who could pick up the points.

The underlying statistics show De Bruyne’s all-round influence on Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Belgian’s 17 shots and 15 chances created over his last four matches are both league-leading totals.

De Bruyne also has an impressive record against the Gunners, earning 35 points in his last three meetings thanks to three goals and two assists.

Opponent to Watch

Bukayo Saka (£6.3m) has stepped up his output for Arsenal recently, scoring three of his five goals this season in their last two matches.

Key Player: Alongside Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka is the Gunners’ highest scoring in FPL so far this season. The England duo have both claimed 87 points in 2021-22.

Other Premier League Pick

Elsewhere, Harry Kane (£12.2m) and Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5m) are among the top candidates for the Gameweek 21 captaincy.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Kane has scored in three successive matches for the first time this term ahead of his visit to Watford.

Ronaldo hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers on the back of 13 and 12-point hauls across Manchester United’s last three home fixtures.
