The Club skipper has clocked up 360 appearances since joining from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013 is now in his ninth campaign having penned a one year extension to his current deal in the summer.
In that time, he’s won 12 trophies and is now our longest-serving player and a leader on and off the pitch.
And at 36, he’s still loving life in sky blue.
“After more than eight years, I believe I am a Mancunian – or mostly Mancunian!” smiled Ferna.
“Since I came here, the welcome I have received was really nice. It was really warm, especially from the City fans, the staff and everyone at the Club.
“Me and my family are settled here and year by year, we learn more about the culture, the people, the way they like to live and how respectful they are.
“I have a special feeling about Mancunian people and last summer we stayed here and it wasn’t too bad – the weather was OK and we enjoyed it.
“Our kids were obviously at school and with the government restrictions at the time, we couldn’t really travel, so we chose to stay here.”

And the 53-times capped Brazil star says he still has work to do at City.
“In my head and my mind, the job is not done yet and so that’s why I decided to stay here another year and try to help the team and the Club to achieve the goals that they’re looking for,” he said.
“In my point of view, we can do that, there’s still places to improve and to get those targets.
And obviously, for me and for my family it’s a pleasure to stay in Manchester for one more year.
“I think Manchester and the UK in general can give you all the things you need - education, health care, and the tranquillity to live here the best way possible and for you to do your job as well.
“That for sure was one of the things we put on the paper. It was, how can I say, a good point to decide to be here and to stay here another year.
“And for sure, my family are really happy. My son, he’s starting to play football now. I hope he can follow his dad’s path!”
