Phil Foden has expressed his pride at 10-man City's determination, grit and resilience after securing a 2-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Englishman opened the scoring after just seven minutes, expertly finishing a wonderful 46 pass move into the bottom corner from Kyle Walker‘s cut-back, claiming his first goal of the season.

Erling Haaland doubled the lead shortly after, heading in from a precise Matheus Nunes cross.

Rodrigo was shown a straight red card shortly after the interval, but Pep Guardiola‘s men showed superb defensive organisation to keep out the visitors and claim the three points.

“I’m delighted with the performance,” he said.

“I think the first half was brilliant apart from the last ten minutes, I think they found us out a little.

“The second half was not what we expected because Rodrigo got a red card quite early.

“It wasn’t ideal but we showed a different side to us today to dig in and yeah, I’m proud of the team.”

Foden, who was named Man of the Match after a sparkling display, now has a goal and four assists in the top-flight, where we boast a 100% winning record after six wins in a row.

The attacker’s thoughts were mirrored by boss Guardiola after the game, who also had plenty of praise for the team’s rigidness to keep a clean sheet after having ten men for a large portion of the game.

“An exceptional game in the first half. Exceptional game in the second for our resilience and our work because we played,” said Guardiola.

“I would say, 51/52minutes ten against eleven so it was not easy but we were fantastic.”
