An uncharacteristic first-half performance from Pep Guardiola‘s ranks saw us trail 2-0 at the break with Lois Openda bagging a brace for the German side.
But a much-improved City came out firing in the second half, and Foden proved to be the spark, sending through Erling Haaland to halve the deficit.
Foden soon after replied with a strike of his own, calmly finishing into the far corner as we found ourselves level.
However, it proved not to be the end of the action as Foden cut back towards Julian Alvarez, and the Argentine made no mistake, finishing clinically to complete the comeback.
On the first half, Foden admitted: “It was a game of two halves, that was the worst I’ve seen us in the first half.
“We played a lot better in the second, we only needed one goal, once the first went in the motivation was there and we kept pushing, playing out football and it paid off.”
Speaking about his goal he said: “The manager is big on it, just stay calm in front of goal and sometimes you just have to pass it in the goal.
“Sometimes I have to take his advice, I did that today, I just passed it through the guy’s legs and thankfully it went in.”
It marks yet another comeback victory at the Etihad Stadium and a 3-2 scoreline is all too familiar to Manchester City fans.
“We have got a great record at the Etihad, only takes one goal to change things,” explained Foden.
“It changed the full rhythm of the game I think the first goal that we scored.
“Julian (Alvarez) is a great player, he is always a threat when he comes off the bench.
“He is a fantastic player, he always makes a difference for us, he is having a brilliant season and he is important for us.”
