After an unprecedented 2020/21 season, an incredible 17 players were involved for their respective national sides at this summer’s European Championships and Copa America.
As a result, a number of Pep Guardiola’s men are continuing to enjoy a prolonged summer break in order to come back fully refreshed and ready to tackle the new campaign.
Nonetheless, a healthy batch of our stars were back at the City Football Academy on Monday to begin preparations for the 2021/22 season.
The likes of Riyad Mahrez and Fernandinho, who both featured in our maiden Champions League final back in May, were back sharpening up ahead of our first friendly match in eight days’ time, as was Benjamin Mendy.
City welcome Preston North End to the Academy Stadium on Tuesday 27 July, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 (UK).
The players will be desperate to kick-off pre-season with a win and, while there were plenty of smiles, there was also an intense focus throughout a first session back at the CFA.
