Rodrigo played 72 minutes as Spain were 7-1 winners in their Euro 2024 qualifier with Georgia in Tbilisi on Friday.

Luis de la Fuente’s side ran riot at the Dinamo Arena in the Georgian capital, scoring four goals before the half-time break.

They added three more in the second period to seal a valuable three points in emphatic style.

Our midfielder didn’t get on the scoresheet but was crucial to all of Spain’s build-up play - as he has been at City.

Featuring at the base of a midfield three with Fabian Ruiz and Gavi, he completed 98 passes and had 109 touches, far eclipsing anyone other than Spain’s central defenders.

The goals came from Alvaro Morata, who hit a hat-trick, Dani Olmo, Nico Williams, Lamine Yamal and a Solomon Kverkeliya own goal.

Georgia’s Giorgi Chakvetadze had scored the first goal of the second half, making it 4-1 at that point but it proved to merely a consolation.

The result leaves Spain in second place in Group A of the Euro 2024 qualifiers with six points from their first three games.

Rodrigo and Spain will now return to their homeland to face Cyprus at the Nuevo Los Carmenes in Granada on Tuesday 12 September.
