Jack Grealish has expressed his delight after City's 1-0 Premier League victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The winger came on as a second-half substitute and assisted the winner just after the hour mark, putting the ball on a plate for fellow substitute Riyad Mahrez to tap into an empty net at the back post.

The win takes Pep Guardiola‘s side just five points behind league leaders Arsenal in the table and Grealish was overjoyed to secure the victory against a tough opponent.

“They had a few injuries. Especially early on as well. It was a tough game, Chelsea played brilliant especially in the first half.

“We got the goal and after that it was backs against the wall really. I’m buzzing to come here and get three points.

“It was [lively in dressing room]. The manager changed a few things and had a few words with us. The first 20 minutes of the second half we dominated and had the most chances.

“The manager said to me, be aggressive and attack, stay high and wide and I did that. It was weird because I was speaking to Riyad [Mahrez] inside and he thought the keeper would get the cross and so did I.

“I thought Erling has got to be somewhere in there! I said to him, where were you? He said because everyone was in the box he pulled back.

“I thought the keeper would get it but now I’m going to praise my cross. I thought I played that too close to him.

“I’m so close with Riyad. We said we’d love to come on here because it was so open. We were saying to each other. We came on and it was perfect.”

The 27-year-old now has three top-flight assists in his last three matches and is beginning to produce the output that his recent displays have deserved.

He admitted that he’s had to work hard but is loving life at the club.

“I’ve said this before, it’s so different to what I was used to at Aston Villa when I played for Dean Smith. He would say find the weak link in their defence. I had an overlapping full back.

“I’ve come to City and I didn’t realise how hard it is to adapt to a new team and manager. It’s so much more difficult than I thought. A lot of teams sit in against us.

“You sit there and you watch the game, you observe. I always want to start of course but yeah, I’ve been here 18 months and I’m still getting used to it, I’m enjoying it.

“It’s a great group of lads and it’s a pleasure to work under Pep [Guardiola].
