Phil Foden scored our 1000th goal under Guardiola’s leadership in our 3-0 win over West Ham United on Wednesday evening.
Nathan Ake opened up the scoring, Erling Haaland scored his 35th goal to make him the Premier League’s all-time record goal-scorer before the manager’s milestone was reached with the third from Foden.

And for Onuoha - one of the special guests on Wednesday’s latest Matchday Live Show – Guardiola’s achievement, broken in record time, highlights the football prowess of the Spaniard.
“I think his tenure here [at City] has probably gone better than most people could have ever thought,” began Onuoha. “The amount of time he’s stayed at the club as well, some of the players he’s brought through.
“I loved Pep [Guardiola], obviously when he was at Bayern [Munich], when he was at Barcelona because some of the football they played is the stuff I remember throughout most of my life.
“But then he’s brought that to Manchester City and every year something’s slightly different. No two seasons have ever been the same but [it’s the same] amount of success that they’ve had.
“And 1000 goals is outrageous. And for context, the next nearest team in that time since he’s been here is over 200 goals less!”
The remainder of the season continues to be a hugely busy period for Guardiola and his team. First we welcome Leeds United on Saturday 6 May, one of five Premier League games remaining as we aim for our third title in succession.

We travel to Spain for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final match against Real Madrid on Tuesday 9 May before a deciding tie at the Etihad on Wednesday 17 May. Then it’s an FA Cup final with neighbours Manchester United on Saturday 3 June.
In these big games the players, like so many before them, can write themselves into sky blue history – and Onuoha thinks that’s because of the leadership they’ve had in Guardiola.
“It’s outrageous the standard he’s created for this football club, for these players and for effect that Man City have on world football,” said Onuoha.
“You have to give him [Guardiola] credit. There have been so many players that have come and been so iconic and it’s almost like you’ll remember them in relation to the club but this is the Pep Guardiola era and all those players have been able to do it because he’s been in charge and made every single one of those players better.
“And they can go on with their careers after they leave and know they’ve touched the very top because they’ve had one of the best coaches.”
