Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic are set to join up with the Manchester City squad in New York on the second leg of our 2024 USA Tour.

The Croatian pair were given extra time off after playing at the European Championship in the summer.

They will now meet up with Pep Guardiola and their team-mates ahead of our second match with AC Milan at New York’s Yankee Stadium on July 27.

City then move on to Orlando where we play Barcelona at the Camping World Stadium on 30 July before our final game against Chelsea at Ohio Stadium on 3 August.

All our players that featured at EURO 2024 or the Copa America in the United States, have been given time to recuperate from a long season.

Gvardiol and Kovacic played in all of Croatia’s group games against Spain, Albania and Italy.

They were the only City players that didn’t make it into the knockout stage in Germany after a last-minute equaliser in their final match against Italy saw them suffer late heartbreak.

After joining 12 months ago, both players made a big impact as we secured a record fourth Premier League title in a row as well as winning the European Super Cup and Club World Cup.

Playing at left-back, Gvardiol scored five goals in the final weeks of the season as we won our last 10 games to claim the title.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CITY’S USA TOUR

Experienced midfielder Kovacic also settled quickly making 46 appearances and can offer cover for Rodrigo after the Spaniard’s gruelling season that saw him successful in the final against England.

In total, 14 members of the City squad spanning seven nations were involved at Euro 2024 along with Julian Alvarez who helped Argentina win the Copa America.

But it will still be a strong side that faces Celtic in our first tour match at Chapel Hill on Wednesday, 24 July with first-team regulars Ederson, Rico Lewis, Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish and Oscar Bobb among those with the squad that touched down in the US on Saturday.
