City got off to the perfect start when Phil Foden swept a low shot past Nicholls inside 20 minutes.
It was a lovely one-two with fellow academy product Divine Mukasa - with an assist on his debut - and Foden saw it home from 18 yards out.
The Terriers tested City in the second-half, but Savinho put the game to bed when he fired home a second with 15 minutes remaining.
As we hurtled towards the closing stages, we saw Reigan Heskey introduced to the action behind his brother Jaden Heskey making them the first brothers to play together for City since Kolo and Yaya Toure.
