Gavin Bazunu and Ruben Dias were City’s only representatives on an otherwise quiet night for our international stars.

Bazunu, on loan with Portsmouth and so impressive against Portugal earlier in the week, played for Republic of Ireland who were held 1-1 by Azerbaijan.

Though Ukraine and Holland were in action, no City player featured in either World Cup Qualifier.

Oleksandr Zinchenko was suspended after picking up a yellow card against Kazakhstan and so missed the 1-1 draw with France.

And Nathan Ake an unused sub as the Netherlands beat Montenegro 4-0.

On Sunday, England, Germany and Spain are all in action with up to eight of our stars in action.

Elsewhere, Portugal also played this evening against World Cup 2022 hosts Qatar.

All three of City’s Portuguese contingent started on the bench, but it was only Dias who was called upon, replacing Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves on 68 minutes.

Bernardo and Joao Cancelo watched from the bench as Portugal won 3-1 – with the hosts reduced to nine men after having a player sent off towards the end of each half.
