Garcia came off the bench to play the final 30 minutes at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, where Torres hit the final goal of the Group A4 game in his second senior appearance for La Roja.
Manchester City’s new signing scored within 10 minutes of being introduced as a substitute and opened his international account in fine fashion as he volleyed home from inside the area after Serhiy Kryvtsov’s headed clearance fell kindly for him.
Rodrigo also featured for Spain, starting and playing 69 minutes as Luis Enrique’s side eased to victory over Oleksandr Zinchenko’s Ukraine.
Zinchenko won his 33rd cap and started in midfield for the Yellow and Blues, but suffered a tough evening against the rampant hosts, with Sergio Ramos netting a brace and Ansu Fati scoring on his debut to become the youngest goalscorer in his country’s history.
In the other Group A4 match, Ilkay Gundogan was on target for Germany against Switzerland.
Teed up by Matthias Ginter’s inviting cutback, Gundogan drilled a low effort into the bottom right corner from 20-yards to put Die Mannschaft ahead, but was left frustrated as Switzerland fought back to share the points in a 1-1 draw.
The evening’s results mean Spain top the group after two games, with Ukraine in second place and Germany, who are still waiting for a first win in the tournament, are third.
Aro Muric’s Kosovo were also in action, but the goalkeeper was an unused substitute as the Dardanians lost 2-1 to Greece in Group C3.
