Ferran Torres scored his 10th international goal to help Spain to a 2-0 victory over Kosovo in World Cup qualifying.
The forward showed great composure to beat his man and fire a fierce drive past Aro Muric, currently on loan from City at Adana Demirspor, to wrap up the three points for Luis Enrique’s side.

Torres, who won his 20th cap at the Pristina City Stadium, has now scored four goals in his last four appearances for club and country and is the first player to net six times in a calendar year for Spain since David Silva hit seven in 2017.

Both he and Aymeric Laporte completed 90 minutes for La Roja, who also had Pablo Fornals on target, whilst Rodrigo was an unused substitute.

Ilkay Gundogan also had reason to celebrate on Wednesday evening.

City’s No.8 played the entire 90-minutes as Germany eased to a 4-0 win over Iceland to retain their place at the top of Group J, but it proved a frustrating night for Oleksandr Zinchenko and City’s England quartet, with Ukraine and the Three Lions both denied victory with stoppage time equalisers.

Zinchenko was involved in a superb move as Oleksandr Petrakov’s side took the lead in their friendly with the Czech Republic.

Deployed in midfield, the City man played a precise through ball that allowed Oleksandr Tymchyk to cross for Viktor Korniyenko to crash home at the far post, only for Burnley striker Matěj Vydra to level in the third minute of added time.

Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling, John Stones and Kyle Walker suffered a similar fate in Poland, where Damian Szymanski’s last gasp header rescued a point for the hosts.

All four played the full 90-minutes in a keenly fought contest that England looked set to edge after Harry Kane drilled a 25-yard effort past goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, but substitute Szymanski beat Luke Shaw to Robert Lewandowski’s cross to salvage a draw in front of a vociferous home crowd.
