Jack Grealish believes his friendship with Phil Foden can lead to a successful partnership on the pitch as he revealed the special connection he shares with his new team-mate.

Having bonded whilst away with England at this summer’s EURO 2020 tournament, two of the Premier League’s most exciting talents will now join forces at Manchester City after Grealish completed his move from Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old cannot wait to play alongside Foden and feels the pair could enjoy a fruitful relationship at the Etihad Stadium after showing signs of good link up play whilst training with the Three Lions.

“When we are away with England I get on so well with him,” Grealish told mancity.com during his first interview with the Club.

“He makes me laugh. He is like a little brother. I just can’t wait to play regularly with him week in, week out.

“I feel like sometimes when you have a connection with someone off the pitch it can transfer onto the pitch.

“We did that in training with England. We would look for each other, play one twos and I can’t wait to be doing that here.”

Grealish’s excitement isn’t merely down to friendship.

Foden, a player with whom he shares many qualities, is someone whose talent he believes is up there with the best he has witnessed.

“He is unbelievable,” added City’s new signing.

“I don’t think anyone needs to be told that. Everyone knows how good he is.

“He has got the best first touch I have ever seen, whether the ball is coming out of the sky or it’s been rapped into him.

“He is just so smooth, the way he dribbles with the ball. He is much quicker than people give him credit for.”

Playing with Foden is just one of many things Grealish has to look forward to as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.

The chance to work with Pep Guardiola is something he says was too good to turn down, as was the opportunity to fight for the biggest prizes in football.

And, having been forced to watch the Champions League from home in recent years, playing in Europe’s elite club cup competition will be a particularly special moment for the playmaker.

“There were quite a few factors why I wanted to come; competing for trophies, playing in the Champions League is a massive thing for me,” Grealish explained.

“I haven’t done that yet. When I was sitting there on a Tuesday or Wednesday night last year it was something I wanted to do.

“To do it with this club will be a dream.”

City fans will have the chance to meet Jack at the Etihad Stadium’s West Reception on Monday. More details will be released in due course.
