The Portuguese full-back has changed his squad number from No.27 following Raheem Sterling’s departure and will wear his new number during the upcoming campaign.
Cancelo has made 128 appearances and scored eight goals during his three years with City, having joined from Juventus in 2019.
He has previously worn the No.7 shirt at Inter Milan and Valencia, while he donned the No.70 shirt for Benfica.
Many crowd favourites have previously worn the No.7 jersey.
As well as Sterling, such luminaries as Georgi Kinkladze, Stephen Ireland, David White, Peter Barnes, Mike Summerbee and Robbie Fowler also chose that as their squad number at City.
It is also in keeping with Cancelo’s versatile attacking style that he has adopted a shirt usually given to a winger!
