The Co-Op Live event brought a party atmosphere to celebrate another season of success with City lifting the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, City Women winning the Women’s Super League title and the under-18s collecting the FA Youth Cup.
It took place after a open top bus parade through the streets of Manchester as the fans enjoyed another incredible season with the players as well as saying a last thank you to Stones, Pep Guardiola and Bernardo Silva.
Stones has had an amazing impact over an incredible decade at the Etihad that saw him win 20 trophies and the defender said he has been overwhelmed by the support.
“It’s absolutely everything, it’s something that, from the bottom of my heart, I can’t explain,” he told fans inside the arena and streamed live on mancity.com and the official app.
“But honestly I love you all and can’t thank you enough for all the support over the years, the love you’ve shown not only me but the guys and my family.
“To be able to have my name sung, I hope I’ve done every single one of you proud in how I played and how I represented the club.”
Bernardo joined a year after Stones and they leave the Club as legends after playing such a big part in a period of unprecedented success.
The two also developed a close friendship and the England international paid tribute to his team-mate after nine years together.
“I think one of our first memories meeting each other was when I played Monaco and he was there, he’ll tell his version I’ll tell you mine,” Stones added.
“There was a foul late on in the game, it was not a foul and I went over and said some words to him!
“But to spend nine years with this player, this guy, this friend, has been an absolute pleasure for me and I think I can speak on behalf of everyone in this arena that we’ll all miss Bernardo and miss seeing him play.
“His elegance on the pitch, his class, his wizardry, what he does with a football. I love him to bits.”
