John Stones has been nominated for December’s Premier League Player of the Month award.

The defender played four times during December, a run of games in which City didn’t concede a single goal, including tough away assignments at Manchester United and Southampton.

Stones has won widespread praise for his performances, with his defensive solidity and ball-playing quality combining superbly and giving City a robust platform.

There has been an outpouring of love from the City fans across social media, too, and in a recent interview with CityTV, Stones said the feeling was mutual!

“It’s a love- love relationship from both parties!” he said.

“I can’t thank them enough for their support and their patience as well.

“They love the club, (support) the players through thick and thin and that’s something special about fans.

“To go through hard moments and (know they are) still behind you – I’d just like to say a big thanks to them.

“I honestly do really wish they were back in the stadium (as) we want to see them all soon.”

Stones has been shortlisted for December’s award alongside Anwar El Ghazi (Aston Villa), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa), Ben Mee (Burnley), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Tomas Soucek (West Ham).

Congratulations to John on his well-deserved nomination!
