Josko Gvardiol has joined Pep Guardiola’s team from RB Leipzig, where he made 87 appearances across two seasons.
He is deemed to be one of the most exciting young defenders despite only just beginning to perfect his craft at 21 years old.
Like our other summer signing, Mateo Kovacic, Gvardiol began his career at Dinamo Zagreb, winning two league titles, one Croatian Cup and a Croatian Super Cup all by the time he was 18 years old.
His move to Germany in 2021 helped him gain more experience, representing Leipzig in the Champions League, while aiding in their fourth and third place finishes in his two seasons with the outfit.
On the international stage, Gvardiol made his senior debut for Croatia in June 2021 – aged 19 – following his continued success throughout all of the Croatian youth teams from Under-14 all the way to Under-21.
Since then, he has gone on to earn 21 caps including a third-place finish at the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.
