Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva will go head-to-head in December’s Premier League Goal of the Month vote.

The City team-mates will be up against a further five players in the poll which is open now and closes at noon on Monday, 10 January.

De Bruyne’s second goal against Leeds United – a right-foot howitzer of a shot from 20 yards that would win any poll under normal circumstances – but December proved an exceptional month for spectacular goals.

Bernardo has just bagged the Nissan Goal of the Month for December and will hope to collect another prize for his sumptuous left-foot volley from 18 yards against Aston Villa.

Other nominees for last month are Brighton’s Neal Maupay v West Ham; Tottenham winger Lucas Moura v Norwich; Everton’s Demarai Gray v Arsenal; Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette v Southampton and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold’s goal against Newcastle United.

The winner will be announced on 14 January.
