Kevin De Bruyne is your Etihad Player of the Month for January.

The Belgian wins the award at the first time of asking this season having only returned last month following five months on the sidelines.

Our playmaker received a hero’s welcome when he came on in the FA Cup thrashing of Huddersfield Town at the start of the new year.

He needed just 17 minutes that day to notch an assist, crossing for Jeremy Doku to volley home.

His substitute performance at Newcastle United proved the turning point in a decisive Premier League victory midway through the month.

Still not ready to play a full match at that point, De Bruyne was called on by Pep Guardiola for the final 21 minutes with City trailing 2-1.

He netted the equaliser with a cool finish before an exquisite ball for Oscar Bobb saw the young Norwegian complete the turnaround.

It was his corner in the dying minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium that was forced home by Nathan Ake to see us safely into the last 16 of the FA Cup.

Finally, he rounded out January with a delightful slide rule pass from a free-kick to deceive the Burnley defence and tee up Julian Alvarez for his second of the night in last week’s victory over Vincent Kompany’s side.

Congratulations to Kevin on winning January’s Etihad Player of the Month, and thank you to everyone who voted!
