The Belgian recorded a record-equalling 20 Premier League assists and scored 13 goals, which led to him becoming the first male City player to be named PFA player of the Year.
In all competitions, he scored 16 goals and assisted 23, making him Europe’s leading assist maker.
“I want to compete as an individual to be the best that I can be,” he said. “To get this award is really nice.
“As a midfield player, you have to think constantly about the game – try to be ahead of the game as I see it.
“I try to help my team create opportunities. I try to find spaces I can exploit. I try to give my teammates the best conditions to get in front of goal and I think I’m pretty good at that.”
