Kevin De Bruyne admits winning the World Cup with Belgium would be an unbelievable moment in his football career.

The 2022/23 season is different to most, taking place either side of a winter World Cup.

De Bruyne has been fully focused on club matters as he looks to enjoy another successful season at the Etihad Stadium.

But, now that the global football tournament has finally kicked off and Belgium set to face Canada tonight at 19:00 (UK) in their first Group F match at Al Rayyan Stadium, De Bruyne is hoping for glory with the Red Devils.

Asked what the perfect moment would look like at the event, he quickly – and understandably - replied: “The perfect moment is to win it.

“I don’t know if it’s realistic but that’s the only one.

“I don’t care about goals or assists. If we would win it with Belgium, it would be unbelievable because we are a very small country in comparison to a lot.

“But we’ve done well since 2014, we’ve come back up and obviously it’s going to be hard for us but that’s the only goal.

“It doesn’t mean we’re going to win it but we are going to try.”

But what would De Bruyne do if he were to win it…a commemorative tattoo, a wacky haircut?

Laughing, he replied: “I stay the same. I don’t care what people do.

“People do crazy stuff. I just do what I do. I am not like that.

“I am the person I am. I am relaxed. I enjoy my life. And probably I would enjoy it if I would win it.

“But I don’t do any stupid stuff that other people do. They can do whatever they want. Not for me.”
