Pep Guardiola’s side won the 2023 Champions League after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Inter in Turkey thanks to Rodrigo’s second-half rocket secured the prestigious trophy.
The 33-year-old came from the bench after the interval and expertly helped us maintain a vital clean sheet at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.
It represents the England defender’s sensational 14th major honour at the Etihad Stadium.
And Walker admitted he will forever feel indebted to the Club and the boss for the success he’s enjoyed in Manchester.
Indeed, he feels that the achievement put his personal journey over the years into perspective.
“I’m living the dream,” he said.
“My mum and dad are in the stand and where I’ve come from in Sheffield, it’s not easy.
“For them to be here and for me to experience the memories with them [is special]. I remember when my mum didn’t have a pound for the ice cream van.
“For her to be here, experiencing it with me, I’m so thankful.
“I’m over the moon. I’m very rarely speechless, but my dream has just come true to achieve this with this club.
“For everything they have done for every single one of us over the years and to achieve the Treble is unbelievable.”
“I’ve been here six years now and to give me what it’s given me and the experiences I’ve had in football I’ll be forever in debt. Forever in debt.”
Walker made five appearances in European football’s premier competition in 2022/23 which raised his total career outings in the Champions League to 49.
And the electric defender revealed that he delivered a heartfelt speech to his teammates before kick-off.
He added: “I made a speech before they went out and I was true to my word. It was emotional but this club means so much to me.
“I said ‘my dream is in your hands’. It’s as simple as that. No pressure and there was no pressure.
“You can’t say Inter deserved it more than we did or we deserved it more than Inter did. We were both here by merit. Commiserations to them, but there has to be a loser.
“I said to the lads ‘we need to make sure we leave everything on that pitch. We can’t work as hard as we did all season to throw it away’.
“I thought the lads dug deep tonight. The occasion is going to get to you but to come away with a gold medal is fantastic.”
