Since arriving at the Etihad in 2017, Walker has been a crucial part of the Club’s most successful era – lifting 15 major trophies in six seasons.
That haul comprises of five Premier Leagues, four League Cups, two FA Cups, two Community Shields, a UEFA Super Cup and Champions League trophy.
The England international believes the structure of the Club provides the players with everything they need to be successful.
Now, after extending his City contract until 2026, he’s called for the 2023/24 crop to make the most of the backroom staff’s hard work and claim more honours – including a record fourth straight top-flight title.
“We have no excuses,” he said.
“Everything that we have here, the facilities, the chefs, the kitmen, the nutritionists, it’s all top.
“So if they’re providing what they can do or at their very best it gives us no excuse not to go out and perform at our very best. There’s no excuses.
“And we should demand that from us as a group of players. We know that this club and this organisation has brought in the very best at what they do.
“So we just need to make sure that we turn up every game day, put them three points on the board and moving on to the next one.”
“We don’t plan for the future. We plan for the present. And the present starts on Saturday against West Ham. We’ve had a perfect start, but we want to continue that now.”
Pep Guardiola’s squad has seen significant changes in the summer, with several experienced players making way for the additions of Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes.
Kovacic and Gvardiol have already proved important in the early weeks of the season while Doku and Nunes, signed towards the end of the transfer window, are still settling in Manchester.
Walker, who has worn the captain’s armband in the believes that refresh will have a positive effect on the group as the season progresses and the Champions League and domestic cup competitions get under way.
Asked about the latest additions, the 33-year-old was clearly impressed with what he has seen so far.
He said: “Josko [Gvardiol] is a Rolls-Royce of a centre-back. The age that he is and the quality that he shows on the ball and with the manager, I feel the world’s his oyster basically.
“Kova[cic] has four Champions Leagues. He’s been in these high-pressure games before. So I feel that he can add something where he’s won it and he’s won it again. We haven’t done that so he can bring his experience to that front.
“Matheus, I saw him at Old Trafford when Man United played Wolves and I said to Bernardo and Ruben, this guy’s alright. Lo and behold, two weeks later, he’s in the building.
“Jeremy is quick and with Pep’s guidance again, I think he’s going to be fantastic.
“So I feel that it’s been a great transfer window. I feel that we’ve got the positions and the players in the right areas that we needed.”
