Kyle Walker says Arsenal deserve ‘full credit’ as they sit atop the Barclays Premier League table but he’s expecting ‘a lot of twists and turns’ between now and the end of the season.

Walker points to the fact that the 2022/23 top-flight campaign is yet to reach the halfway point as evidence that plenty can still happen as City and other teams chase down the impressive Gunners.

On fighting for top spot in the Premier League, he said: “That is where everyone wants to be.

“At the midway point, you want to be sitting at the top of the league.

“Full credit to Arsenal, they have played some fantastic football this season so far. But as we all know, there is a lot of football to be played.

“We have only played 16 games, so we aren’t technically even halfway.

“There are still a lot of games to play and there are going to be a lot of twists and turns I believe.

“Teams are playing each other and you need to take points off the teams around you.

“We start on Thursday with Chelsea.”

Walker also reflected on the start to the season so far – for him and for the team.

He continued: “It has been a bit of a tough half season [for me].

“At the start of the season, I was doing ok but then took some niggles to my groin and I knew something wasn’t right.

“We know the Brentford result at home before the World Cup was not acceptable. We shouldn’t lose that game.

“But the team has put in some good shifts. Against Liverpool [in the Cup], I thought it was an excellent performance and away at Elland Road which is a tough place to go.

“The goal we conceded at the weekend [against Everton] is a wondergoal. They had one shot on target and score.

“It is football and these things happen. It is an important end to the season and we need to start putting a run together which we know that we can do.

“I have more than enough faith to know that this group of players will want to achieve everything that they can achieve.”

Walker also paid tribute to star striker, Erling Haaland, who’s been a sensation since signing for City this past summer.

Haaland became the quickest player in Premier League history to reach 20 goals in the Premier League – and now has 21 following his effort in the 1-1 draw with Everton.

The powerful forward also has 27 in all competitions.

Our reliable right-back is a big fan of Haaland.

He added: “It is incredible. He is the quickest player to score 20 goals in Premier League history since Kevin Phillips.

“What he is doing has not been seen and we have had some great strikers in the Premier League.

“He has to continue now because he has set the bar so high.

“Every game he keeps popping up with a goal so he just needs to keep doing what he is doing, make sure he keeps scoring the goals and then us as defenders keep the clean sheets which will ultimately win us games.”
