Two sides known for an intense, free-flowing style of play certainly did not disappoint in an exciting 1-1 draw in West Yorkshire.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring just before the 20-minute mark when he tiptoed his way into the box from the left before whipping the ball through a crowd of bodies and into the far corner.

But the England winger’s opener was cancelled out just before the hour mark by Leeds substitute Rodrigo, who reacted quickest when the ball dropped invitingly inside the box from a corner.

A breathtaking game continued to ebb and flow with both sides creating chances on a wet and windy evening at Elland Road.

REPORT: City held by Leeds in entertaining clash

Both goal scorers were once again in the thick of the action, with Ederson tipping over expertly from a Rodrigo header ten minutes after the Spaniard’s equaliser.

While at the other end, Sterling was denied by Meslier in a one-on-one situation, before claiming for a penalty after he cut inside Liam Cooper with five minutes to go.

But the England winger’s appeals fell on deaf ears to ensure a lively clash finished all square.
