Second-half goals from Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus propelled City to a 2-0 Premier League victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Pep Guardiola‘s men began swiftly and had the ball in the net inside five minutes through Fernandinho, but the Brazilian’s superb 25-yard strike was ruled out for offside as Sergio Aguero blocked Kasper Schmeichel’s view of the shot.

The visitors continued to dominate the ball and threaten Leicester defence, with Kevin De Bruyne going closest, crashing a free-kick off the crossbar, before curling a long-range effort just wide.

The clearest chance of the first half fell at the feet of former Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez, but his shot was kept out well by Schmeichel from close-range.

Guardiola‘s men emerged from the interval with a similar attacking intent and it finally paid off just before the hour mark, as Mendy superbly curled the ball into the corner from the left side of the box.

The goal forced the hosts to push further up the field, leaving spaces in defence, which De Bruyne expertly capitalised on by playing through Jesus, who squared the ball for Raheem Sterling, who unselfishly played the ball back to Jesus to poke into an empty net - marking the Englishman’s 50th assist for the club.

City defended well for the remainder of the game to claim the three points and extend our away Premier League winning record to nine matches.
