Savinho's scored his first ever goal for City and assisted another as Pep Guardiola's side fought hard to earn a 2-0 Premier League victory over Leicester City in the manager's 500th match in charge.

After four matches without a victory in the top-flight, the defending champions raced into the lead after 21 minutes on Guardiola‘s landmark occasion.

LEICESTER 0-2 CITY | MATCH REPORT

Neat work between Academy graduates Rico Lewis and Phil Foden resulted in the latter striking towards the bottom corner, but Leicester goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk could only parry into the path of the onrushing Savinho, who finished expertly high into the corner, claiming his first goal for the Club.

The hosts responded well and could have levelled through Jamie Vardy, who pounced on a loose ball, but his goal-bound effort from a tight angle was saved superbly by Stefan Ortega Moreno.

Shortly before the interval, we almost doubled our lead thanks to a wonderful solo effort from Erling Haaland, who dribbled beyond three Leicester defenders before whipping a shot just wide of the post.

With just over 15 minutes left to play, we got the all-important second goal as Haaland headed in from Savinho‘s pinpoint cross, following excellent work on the right flank from substitute James McAtee.

We remained resolute, organised and professional to secure the three points and end the calendar year with a victory!
