Bernardo Silva’s close-range effort just after the hour was enough to hand Pep Guardiola’s men a deserved 1-0 triumph at the King Power Stadium.
City were the dominant force in the first half, with the Portuguese midfielder and Gabriel Jesus in particular testing an inspired Kasper Schmeichel in the Leicester net.
Nonetheless, the hosts also went close to finding an early lead when Harvey Barnes was thwarted by a combination of Kyle Walker and Ederson as he slid in at the far post from Jamie Vardy’s ball across.
Ederson needed medical attention following the collision but was thankfully able to continue.
The Foxes were almost ahead early in the second half, with Harvey Barnes heading onto the top of the bar from the back post after a swift counter.
Brendan Rodgers’ men had the ball in the back of the net moments later when Vardy accelerated in behind before rounding Ederson, but the forward’s celebrations were cut short by the offside flag.

That flurry of chances aside, City regained their stranglehold on proceedings, with Torres and Ilkay Gundogan both going close to putting our noses in front.
But the breakthrough finally came just after the hour, when Joao Cancelo’s effort ricocheted off Caglar Soyuncu and into the path of Bernardo, who convincingly smashed home the game’s only goal.
