Julian Alvarez came off the bench to score one and assist another, helping City claim a 3-1 Champions League victory over RB Leizpig to make it two wins from two in Group G.

The opener came from a combination made in our Academy, with Rico Lewis calmly finding the onrushing Phil Foden, whose right-footed shot bounced into the ground and into the corner to hand us a deserved lead after 25 minutes.

The hosts emerged from the break with an attacking intent and levelled the score just three minutes after the interval, with Lois Openda racing through on goal and finishing calmly.

Alvarez was introduced from the bench after 79 minutes and five minutes later, the Argentine curled in a phenomenal strike into the corner to claim his third Champions League goal of the season.

Alvarez then turned provider as the clock ticked into stoppage time, playing Jeremy Doku through, who coolly slotted into the net to secure the three points and put us in pole position in Group G.
