However, the former City defender says it could be intimidating for rival contenders that they have to keep up with a side that has won five of the last six titles.
With 12 games of the campaign gone, City sit a point clear of a congested top of the table with just three points covering the top five spots.
But exactly a year ago, City were five points off the summit after a home defeat to Brentford going into the World Cup before fighting back to claim the title.
“It’s more devastating for the opposition,” said Lescott who was one of our special guests on Sunday’s latest Matchday Live show.
“I don’t think it will matter to this group of players and the coach because they’re used to being competitive and challenging for the title, so they’re used to being in those scenarios.
“It’s more formidable for Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool to look at the table and think ‘we have to catch Man City and you only catch Man City by them dropping points’.
“It doesn’t matter what [they] do, [City] can emulate their results. We’ve seen them go on 10, 12 game winning streaks and that’s the new normal for the Club.”

While Cole Palmer’s late penalty denied a victory in the thrilling 4-4 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, it has still been a hugely productive month since the last international break.
City have won five of six matches in all competitions, securing a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League and fellow guest Kolo Toure has been impressed by the desire in the squad.

“This season is going to be more challenging because doing the Treble, winning the Champions League, you can lose a little hunger,” the ex-City star said.
“They have to find that, but right now it’s great. They’re winning games, although we drew against Chelsea. The winning mentality that the Club has created is so important and I’m sure they’ll be there.
“The other teams have to worry because when City are top, they can be difficult to catch.”
Lescott believes the arrival of summer signings Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes has helped maintain the appetite for success.
And he says that Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones can help keep the energy when they return from injury setbacks.
“The injuries that John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne have, they’ll be like new players,” he added.
“They’ll want to be back and playing so you’ll have a batch of players that want to play and just be excited to be on the training ground again.
“That breeds a mentality and a confidence and motivation that you can’t replicate from just winning.”
