Phil Foden scored one and assisted another as a rampant City defeated Liverpool 4-1 at Anfield, our first victory at the stadium since 2003.

Pep Guardiola‘s men began confidently and dominated the ball, but it was a first-half of few chances for the visitors.

Sadio Mane headed over from seven yards before Roberto Firmino’s dipping half-volley was palmed over by Ederson, but the best chance came to Cit as Ilkay Gundogan fired his spot-kick over Alisson’s crossbar.

The German midfielder emerged from the interval with a determination to redeem himself and he did just that, poking into the roof of the net from inside the six yard box after Foden‘s shot was parried by the Liverpool goalkeeper.

The hosts hit back just after the hour mark through Mohamed Salah’s penalty after the Egyptian was fouled by Ruben Dias, but it was Gundogan again who pounced on an Alisson error to put us back into the lead, directing the ball into the net via the crossbar after more excellent work from the lively Foden.

Alisson gifted City a third moments later, passing the ball straight to Bernardo Silva, who cleverly dinked the ball to the back post where Raheem Sterling headed into an empty net from no more than a yard with 15 minutes remaning, his 100th goal for the club under Guardiola‘s management.

Foden then got the goal that his display deserved, blasting beyond Alisson with seven minutes left to take his tally to ten in all competitions this season, putting the cherry on top of a splendid victory at Anfield.
